What is branded animation?

Branded animation is a storytelling approach that uses animated visuals aligned with your brand’s identity to communicate ideas, promote services or explain concepts. It combines narrative development, script writing, storyboarding, visual and motion design, sound design and voiceovers to deliver unique content.

Why animation matters in branding?

Branded animation offers an engaging way to communicate your brand’s narrative. Thoughtfully designed animated content can help your brand simplify complex messages, cut through the noise and captivate audiences.

Here’s why branded animation is so effective:

  • Clarifies complex ideas: perfect for explaining products, services or concepts.
  • Increases engagement: movement holds attention longer than static visuals.
  • Strengthens brand recall: when style and tone are aligned with your brand, animation becomes instantly recognisable.
  • Versatile across channels: use animations on websites, social media, emails, presentations and more.
  • Adds personality: voice, motion and illustration express emotion and character.

Branded animation services

We create a range of branded content types tailored to your goals. Each animation is designed from scratch to match your visual identity and tone of voice.

  • Explainer animations: distil what you do into a 30–90 second story.
  • Product or service walkthroughs: show your offering in action.
  • Brand story animations: share your mission, values or origin story.
  • Onboarding animations: guide users within digital products or services.
  • Event or retail content: launch visuals, announcements or promotional messages.

Our brand-driven approach

Brand Purist brings a brand-first lens to any project, including animation — a natural extension of your brand. We take the time to understand your organisation and audience. Everything has to align with your identity: motion, pacing, transitions, typography, colours, artworks, audio and voiceovers. We ensure that the messaging fits into the larger brand narrative and strategy.

Process: how we create branded animation

Every animation we produce follows a clear, collaborative process designed to keep things smooth and on-brand:

  1. Research: understanding your goals, audience and brand identity.
  2. Script: developing a concise and engaging narrative that fits your brand strategy.
  3. Styleframes: creating static images to demonstrate the visual direction.
  4. Storyboards: visualising key frames to show how the story will flow.
  5. Animation production: bringing everything to life with motion.
  6. Audio: applying music, sound effects and voiceover, if needed.
  7. Feedback and amends: collaboration and refinement through feedback rounds.
  8. Delivery: supplying final files in formats suited to your platforms.

Branded animation examples

Over the years, we’ve created several branded animations that convey a brand’s origin story, explain complex ideas, or provide a clear breakdown of services.

Key Business Consultants: entrepreneurial accountants from London

London-based accountancy firm, Key Business Consultants, approached Brand Purist to help define a clear brand strategy and reimagine their visual identity. As part of the brand implementation, we produced infographic animations that convey complex information in a clear form. The videos supported Key Business Consultants’ campaigns to promote their SEIS and inheritance tax services.

Aniseed PR: boutique agency that isn’t vanilla

Brand Purist crystallised Aniseed PR’s brand strategy and implemented a complete redesign. Inspired by the name, we developed an illustration and typography-driven visual identity that captures the personable and distinct flavour of Aniseed.

We produced a 2D animated video to communicate Aniseed PR’s philosophy and added value for potential clients. With the help of movement, the illustrations are brought to life, supercharging the personality of the brand.

YR Live: product customisation at events

YR Live, the sister brand of YR Store, delivers experiential product customisation and live printing at events. Brand Purist produced a branded infographic animation to clearly communicate YR Live’s customisation offering to potential clients.

Frequently asked questions

  • Motion graphics is a type of animation that focuses on moving graphic elements like text, shapes or icons. It captures simple ideas in a visually engaging form. Branded animation includes motion graphics but it is broader. Branded animation is about conveying a cohesive, brand-driven story.

  • Absolutely. Animation performs particularly well on social media where attention spans are short and competition for visibility is high. It’s a dynamic way to communicate your message quickly, while staying visually consistent with your brand.

  • The ideal length depends on the platform and purpose, but most effective branded animations fall between 30 and 90 seconds. That’s usually enough time to deliver a clear message without losing your audience’s attention. For social media, even shorter cuts (10–30 seconds) are often most effective.

  • Yes. This is one of its greatest strengths. Animation allows you to simplify and visualise information in a way that’s easy to follow and engaging to watch. It can break down abstract concepts, processes or data into a clear, structured narrative that resonates with your audience.

  • A clear brand identity is ideal because it gives us the foundation to build animation that’s consistent and recognisable. If you already have visual guidelines in place, we’ll apply them. If not, we can help you define them or develop animation styles that work harmoniously with your existing brand presence.

  • Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the project, length of the animation, and whether additional elements like voiceover or original music are involved. As a general guide, most branded animations take 3–6 weeks from briefing to delivery, but we’ll always agree a timeline that fits your schedule and needs.

  • It can be. While voiceover can add depth, well-designed animation can still convey meaning through movement, typography and visual cues alone. For many digital and social formats where sound may be muted by default, silent animation with on-screen text or visual storytelling can be especially powerful.

  • Yes. We can manage the full audio production process from script to sourcing voiceover artists, music licensing and sound design. Whether your animation needs subtle ambient effects or a fully narrated story, we’ll ensure everything sounds as polished and on-brand as it looks.
